what's your resolution?

Did you know that depending on your computer's monitor and/or screen resolution, you might be seeing colors and sizes differently than others? Although my computer-saavy husband explained it to me in 9th grade (pre-engagement), it wasn't until blogging/photography a while back that I noticed that this even mattered. A picture will look great on your home screen, but when you look at it from another computer, it might look totally different. Maybe it looks a little darker? Orange-er? Then you might check out another monitor. Weird, is that a little brighter? Blue-er? HUGE-er? Luckily, my monitor and resolution is calibrated to print-quality for photographs; a blessing. So if any of my pictures appear a little large, dark, etc, on your screen, I apologize. Color and quality can be slightly improved in your monitor's settings if you check them out... don't worry about your resolution too much, just know that they vary and can be slightly deceiving!

I have loved my photo class with Nicole these last few weeks. It is so fun to gain new insights and meet awesome people. We tried out a few lighting techniques, which I loved, and while my pictures aren't perfection, the models definitely were (huge thank you to them, and to Nicole!).

feeling blue?

It is freezing outside. The only color that you see everywhere besides brown and white, is blue! So for a part of my photo class this week with the uh-mazing Nicole Hill, I found a few blue shapes, textures, and patterns and took a few pics and made this board. Nothing special, just sharing what I'm up to. :)

They were all taken this week except for one. Heck, I needed one more. If you read my personal blog you might be able to guess which one!

instrumental inspiration

Slowly but surely, improvements are being made around Bethany Jackman Photography. :) I think in order to keep getting better at taking pictures, I need to continuously find inspiration that really impacts me. I finally added to my website what should be some of my greatest inspiration....music from the Pride and Prejudice (2005) soundtrack, of Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Like I do with the movie (and its cinematography), I think after listening to it a million times and never tiring of it, I get this entirely new perspective. After college, I finally got around to reading it, along with other Jane Austin novels... books that I think teach the most wonderful lessons about love. You know how they just take you away and make you want to go back in time?

Jeannette & Brandt 12.29.07

Holy smokes, this turned out to be one ginormous post. I apologize, but I guess I could blame it on how much I love these two, and on how although they were married on the 29th, we took even more photos during their bridals and groomals on the 28th. :) You will find several different photos from both the wedding day, and the day before, scattered throughout. Of course I owe much of my inspiration of the latter to my friend Stacy who was so awesome to show me more of this Lehi area when I recently shot with her. :) I met the gorgeous Jeannette through my dear cousin Matt, whose wedding I did last summer, and who I love to death, so Jen quickly became one of my favorite people. I had been looking forward to thier wedding for months. They were both so gorgeous and so happy. The outside temperature was absolutely freezing, but like I have said before, these December brides and grooms are so incredibly hard core and willing to trudge through the snow, and for that I have to thank them a million times.
