collette + kyle

I hope you all had a very lovely Christmas! We spent 5 days in beautiful Colorado before I left for a 2.5-day hiatus in LA to shoot a wedding. We had a fabulous time. We are back in Utah, but I was computer-less for days and have missed the www! To compensate, I twittered some of my way through the break. ;) I can't wait to post all about Christmas. But before I do, here's a beautiful engagement session I have been meaning to post since early December. Collette and I worked together at BYU for a few months before she headed off to sell pest control last summer. Not only did she seriously rock the company, but she met Kyle. I don't think they have stopped smiling since. I love these two.

our day

Casey and I were married 3 years ago yesterday in Denver, Colorado- where we grew up together.

We celebrated today and it was the BEST anniversary yet!! Well, I sure as heck thought so... Casey agreed to get our pictures taken, take me out to dinner, and take me to The Nutcracker. He seriously wins best husband of the year. ;)

I wanted to get our pictures taken professionally because:

a. It was our anniversary.
b. We honestly don't have any good pictures of us.
c. I needed a couple head shots for mi website.
d. I wanted to get some taken before we have children and we get old and all that good stuff.

I wanted to hire Anna Page because:

a. She's amazing.
b. I've admired her forever.
c. We have a lot of the same equipment, which I just love.
d. I wanted to meet her before she moved. :(
e. She's amazing.

K- AND she took them today and posted them tonight. holy smokes, I couldn't believe it. I started crying I love them so much.

Casey is the cuteness! I love them all, they make me so happy. It was freezing cold, but so worth it. And so much like our actual wedding day! The snow was beautiful, it couldn't have been more perfect. You HAVE to visit her blog to see the rest!

Afterward, we had dinner at The Roof Restaurant in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Temple Square. THEN, we saw The Nutracker at The Capitol Theater. What a beautiful ballet. I was completely captivated and all full of Christmas-ness. Casey enjoyed it too, he even stayed awake for the last act! ;) I cheated and took a picture with my point-shoot.

It had been a long night and Casey had been so good to me, so we totally skipped the lights at Temple Square. I'm sure I'll drag him back when we return to Utah after Christmas. ;)

Thank you honey for the best anniversary yet! :)

And thanks again to Anna for everything! You are brilliant. I will cherish our pictures forever and ever!

Everyone- no matter how old you are or how busy you are or how much money you might have to save up
or how ridiculous it might seem, seriously go get your pictures taken. And hire a pro. It is so worth it.

tara + tyler : wedding

I had such an amazing visit to Newport Beach for Tara + Tyler's wedding. I had never been there before, but it easily became one of my favorite cities. So gorgeous. And it was so warm and clear, I could not BELIEVE it was November. Gosh, I loved it. Tara planned a perfect wedding. It started with the sealing at the LDS Newport Beach Temple that morning, a luncheon at Las Brisas Restaurant in Laguna Beach in the afternoon, and the reception at the Orange Hill Restaurant in Orange County that evening. Every single piece of food I saw/ate that day looked/tasted INCREDIBLE. The views at both restaurants were beyond amazing. I am so grateful to Tara and Tyler and their families for their generosity. Thank you for having me!!

ps for photographers. i learned how to use the nikon d700 the week of this wedding. the first 2 things i noticed that i loved loved were the ISO and the white balance, both significant improvements over the d80. hello, i am finally shooting at an iso of 400 every day rather than 200, hallelujia! a few of the reception images below were taken at flippin 4000 iso. for the love!!
