FAQ's Intro
Happy Valentine's Day!
Since I have nothing but love for you (the 10 readers I have!), I thought I would answer a few photography FAQ's on my blog.
I am mostly self-taught, and photography is more like a hobby for me than anything else, so don't be too excited. . . I honestly don't know much!!! But I love to share the few things I do know, because I believe anyone and everyone should know how to take a good picture.
I will be posting throughout the week. If you have a question, ask away!

Oh I am so SO exited you are doing this.
Ok. So I love the way you edit pictures. I love the color, vibrance but not processed feel of them.
Maybe this is too in depth but how to you edit your pictures. Are they done with actions. And if so which ones? And how do you get each picture from a session to look so uniform with the same editting of each picture.
I have been wanting to email you but felt kinda sheepish about it:) thanks for the opportunity!
Hey hey lady!
Alright so I am delving into the world of manual... sometimes I get a great one here and there but uhh not consistently so here is my question. To get great pictures i have to mess with all my settings and take tons of practice shots til its finally not too shadowy or over exposed and this makes me miss the cute Miley moments I am trying to capture. What are your go to settings? Do you always start on a certain iso etc- what do you adjust first?
I love this!
I would love to know your tricks on getting your white balance to be so beautiful.
Do you do it in camera, and if you do how do you meter it?
Do you use actions or filters on your photos?
Do you use any noiseware to soften your pictures?
What was your favorite sites to help you get better at your craft when you first got started?
I just enjoy your amazing pictures and your blog(s) :)
What a great idea, Bethany! Thanks for sharing!
I have two questions. First, how do you go about finding great outdoor locations? Do you subscribe to the "forgiveness is easier to get than permission" idea and just go wherever? Or do you pre-arrange (and pay for) every photo shoot? If you are willing to share a few of your favorite spots in Utah county since you are all the way in Denver now, I would really appreciate it. (But if not, I understand keeping some secrets!)
Second, I have a Nikon D70S with the standard kit lens (18-70mm). To get better shots in low lighting, would you recommend upgrading the lens first or the camera body first?
Yeah! I love when my friends that are pros offer helps for us that are not as wonderful at picture taking...so I have a couple of questions,
-where do you get your actions? I've been looking at getting some I'm just not sure where I'm going to get the best ones from.
-What actions would you recommend?
-what size do you crop to? I've been doing 9x12 - I've been told that's a good one.
-Do you adjust the ppi when you crop or just leave it?
plus everything everbody else has also asked...
thanks for sharing!
Hi Bethany! I've been following your blog ever since I found your facebook page about a year ago, I LOVE your work! What program do you use to edit your photos? Your images are always so clear, is that mostly due to the lens and lighting you use or through editing? Thanks for doing this! :)
ok here's one for you (if you find it way down here at the bottom of all the FAQ's):
what are your tricks for getting people comfortable enough to photgraph? i have NEVER seen a picture on your site that isn't wonderful and *capturing* of a person/couple/family's personality (i do realize that you post the "good ones") but what do you do with those couples/kids/babies etc that just are not cooperating ---what do you do to pull them out and show themselves to the camera?
